Bike SA had a chat to Kristian Schmidt, who’s part of the Copper Coast Cycling Club, about his favourite spots to ride in The Copper Coast. Voila, his insider tips.
Where are the best spots to ride in the Copper Coast?
There are many good spots to cycle on the Copper Coast. One of our favourites is out to the small coastal town of Tickera and back to Kadina – about a 45km ride out and back.

And coffee spots?
On our arrival back in Kadina our first port of call is the ‘Dragon Well’ coffee shop located right in the centre of Kadina. The Barista, Shane, makes sensational coffee. This coffee shop rates a mention in the 2016 Lonely Planet Guide for Australia.
And what about good tucker?
Good places to eat would include Cafe Capella in Moonta and The Coopers Ale House in Wallaroo. Cafe Capella does great Pizza’s and Pasta.

What’s there to do apart from cycling?
While we don’t have the beautiful wineries of Clare, we do have great fishing and beaches for swimming. North Beach at Wallaroo is a favourite destination for many on a warm summer afternoon /evening. You can drive your car onto the beach and setup camp with a few friends, enjoy some fish and chips and a few drinks and play some beach cricket – great fun.
