A friendly reminder not to ride your bike during fire bans.
Yes, indeed, sometimes Mountain Bikers have a reputation for being a little crazy (we all know in actual fact that people that don’t ride are crazy, because it’s so much fun).
Forestry SA has asked us to remind everybody that Mountain Biking on fire ban days is strictly prohibited. They’ve let us know that the message isn’t getting through to some riders riders in the Fox Creek/Cudlee Creek area. (You can read more about the legalities of it in this brochure).
For those Forestry assets that we are working to develop, it’s counter-productive to helping Bike SA open up more trails and build great relationships with stakeholders so we can create better mountain biking experiences.
The good news is that the Department Environment Water and Natural Resources have a different park closure protocol, which means that their trails are not automatically closed. So there is still potentially loads of trails to get you knobblies into but first check with the home page here http://www.environment.sa.gov.au/Home to see the status of park closures – DEWNR control great riding locations like Cleland, Belair, Sturt Gorge, Shepherds Hill, Cobbler Creek and O’Halloran Hill.
Over Xmas it’s going to be super hot. So we suggest staying at home and either give your bike clean or watch this cheeky video of last year’s Dirty Weekend.
