A new campaign has just been launched by the state government to help educate and remind cyclists about their rights and responsibilities surrounding riding on the footpath. This follows popular take-up of riding on footpaths as a result of changes to road rules in October 2015.
Surveys conducted by Bike SA since the introduction of the new road rules showed that 68% of cyclists are now taking the opportunity to ride on footpaths.
Bike SA CEO Christian Haag is encouraged by these results.
“It’s great to see that the opportunity to ride on our footpaths continues to get many more South Australian’s riding their bicycles.”
The campaign will feature newspaper, radio and online advertisements, as well as placing stickers on popular footpaths.
