Adelaide’s getting a brand new indoor Pump track and it looks like it’s going to be pretty sweet
South Australia has had its fair share of BMX stars – Sam Willoughby – and it looks like things are about to get better for the discipline. “Pumpt”, a new indoor MTB, BMX and Scooter park will open it’s doors this April bringing what’s set to become Australia’s best indoor ride facility.
Set up by Timothy Cichero and Gavin Hutton, the 2500 square metre black fronted warehouse at 221 Marion Road, Marleston, Adelaide will house over 190 metres of pump tracks (undulating glass fibre resin bike tracks), a UCI approved Prostart starting gate and timing system, balance bike track for little riders, a fully equipped bike shop, and the Pumpt Street & Track apparel store. Pumpts design acknowledges the importance of creating an attractive, family friendly venue to not only appeal to riders of all levels, but to spectators watching on the sidelines.
We want to see riders progress in their fitness and challenge themselves. Having battle tracks, circuits and beginners with different levels of difficulty means there’s something for the experienced MTB / BMX rider to the little kid just new to riding a bike. You can train or just have fun,’ says Timothy Cichero of Pumpt.
There will even be a licensed café aptly named “Bone Shaker”, owned and operated by internationally renowned chef Billy Petropoulos and there are whispers that the team from Pumpt aims to open venues across Australia.
