The Clare Valley is an awesome place for cycle tourists. Here are 3 hidden areas in the Clare Valley that we suggest you check out by bike.

1. Jeanneret Wines

Not many people know about this little gem of a winery – and is often overlooked. Jeanneret Wines, established in 1992, is a family owned and operated producer of premium quality table wines. The cellar door and tasting area is located in the stone cellar of the winery complex and offers an intimate tasting experience with an open log fire in winter. It’s located in a unique bushland setting, bordering the Spring Gully Conservation Park on the western edge of the Clare Valley – and you’re not going to be disappointed by the wine or the experience.

(P.S. Their Rank and File Shiraz is to die for. )

Opening Hours: 7 days a week – 9am – 5pm
Address: Jeanneret Rd, Sevenhill SA 5453, Australia

2. Mintaro

Forget Hahndorf – and go check out Mintaro. This small, thoroughly charming, largely untouched historic town features some of the most significant and captivating 19th century buildings and ruins in the state. The Martindale Hall in itself is impressive but there is more to see than old buildings. Add on top of the history a feast of nearby wineries, art galleries, eateries and boutique accommodation. This gorgeous little town will want you coming back for more.

3. The Clare Valley Brewery

Sure – the Clare Valley has great Riesling – but it also has delicious beer. Situated in the cute little town of Auburn, this Brewery stands back a bit so can be missed. But once you have found it, it’s a nice place to stop and sample some beers (and wines) or you can have a drink inside the nice lounge area or outside under the verandah opposite the Main Street. The owners knew just how good a good beer can be, so with that in mind they decided to make the best, the tastiest beer in South Australia. We might also add that their cider is always worth sampling!

Opening Hours: 7 days a week – 9am – 5pm
Address: 20 Main North Road, Auburn SA 5451, Australia

Wine, Wheels & Whiting

Want to spend a bicycle weekend in the Clare Valley? The 2015 Wine, Wheels & Whiting has all the ingredients for a perfect weekend away by bike taking place on Saturday 12 September. South Australia is well known for its gorgeous vineyards, great seafood and strong cycling culture. We’ve decided to bring all of this together in the Wine, Wheels & Whiting bike ride – where riders can pedal all the way from the Clare Valley to the Copper Coast – and be entertained by a weekend of local festivities put on by the locals.

The ride features 3 great road rides to choose from – 125 kilometres – 70 kilometres and 45 kilometres as well as a great family ride in Wallaroo.
