With 732 km now under the belt, the journey so far on Outback Odyssey has been fairly smooth sailing. Our crew reports the best sustained riding conditions in memory up until Tuesday, with riders enjoying sunny days and cool nights.

Tuesday saw the addition of some new participants who arrived for the final leg and were met by a headwind in the afternoon for the approach to Quorn. After a nights rest Wednesday morning delivered in its promise to be…refreshing. The day started with wet weather which cleared by late morning. With the riders now in Hawker they are nearing the end of the journey. The weather is expected to clear, leading to a sunny final ride by Saturday.

The mixed fleet of dualies, hard tails and some cyclo cross bikes have been holding up well, with Odyssey mechanic Lindsey ensuring the fleet continues to run smoothly for the last leg. Lindsey has been primarily addressing maintenance to brakes and running gear caused by dust. He’s sure to be busy now with mud added to the mix!

If you have taken any really good photos while on the trip, we’d love to see them! Get in touch or send them through to Bike SA via Facebook.
