Fleurieu Fondo

Ride the Southern Expressway

Adelaide To Mclaren Vale | Sunday 1 November 2020

The Fleurieu Fondo is not just a road ride, we’re also giving you some of the best gravel riding the south has to offer.

Each route features the most spectacular cycling South Australia has on offer and you’ll share the road with thousands of like-minded cyclists.

With ride distances of between 30km and 125km, the Fleurieu Fondo “Road” offers a classic road ride experience featuring the exclusive opportunity to ride along a car-free Southern Expressway and enjoy a scenic cruise along Adelaide’s beautiful southern beaches.  Then head inland to Willunga via an undulating landscape of lush green vineyards where you can take a breather before taking on the challenge of climbing up the famous Willunga Hill – twice if you’re really keen!!

The Fleurieu Fondo “Gravel”, aka the McLaren GraVale, will offer two loop options of approx. 40km and approx. 65km through the most scenic and quiet gravel roads of the Southern Vales. Take the challenge and you will see why this form of riding is booming in popularity.

Both Road and Gravel options allow you to take in spectacular views across the Southern Vales and the coast from the top of The Range then relax and enjoy your achievement with a festival finish at Serafino Wines in McLaren Vale.

With options to take a short cut or avoid the big hills, there’s a ride to suit everyone.

This ride has it all... expressway, vineyards, hills! It's a hard slog, especially the last 20ks, but my mates and I loved it! A great day out.
