When do registrations close?

Online Registrations close at Midday on Saturday 14 March 2020. Please note that we are unable to process hardcopy registrations after 4pm on Friday 13 March. You can however register in person at the event start on Sunday morning. Allow plenty of time to register, which will be helped by bringing a completed hard copy of the registration form.


When do I get my Rider ID?

All riders are requested to collect their Rider ID during specific pre-registration times at the Bicycle SA office, 11a Croydon Rd, Keswick. This will save you time at the start. You can collect your Rider ID between the hours of:
– 9.00am and 6.00pm on Thursday 12 March
– 9.00am and 6.00pm on Friday 13 March
If you have not collected your Ride ID number, info pack or optional jersey by 6.00pm on Friday 13 March, you must check in at the registration desk at the start location to collect them on the morning of the ride.
Please note: they are not mailed out.
You can collect on behalf of someone else providing you have a copy of their payment receipt
Your Rider ID number will give you access to all food and refreshment stations en-route and at the finish.
Your Rider ID number should be attached to the front of your jersey or the handlebars so it is visible from the front. This will assist in identifying you in the official event photographs
You can deposit small bags and items with the ‘cloakroom’ to be collected at the finish

What sort of bike do I need to have?

On our recreational rides there will be a great range of bikes out on the road from older mountain bikes/hybrids to the latest road bikes. Smoother tyres will make your ride easier/quicker but don’t feel you need the latest bike to be able to enjoy the fun of participating! Whatever wheels you ride, it’s important you give it a thorough service before the event, or have it checked at your local bike shop.

Can I hire a bike from Bicycle SA for the event?

If you don’t have a suitable bike, then you can hire one from Bicycle SA. We have a limited number to choose from in a range of sizes. Call 8168 9999 or email office@bikesa.asn.au for more details.

Will there be mechanical support on the ride?

Limited mechanical support will be available at the start and at the refreshment stations along the route. Limited roaming mechanical support en-route will also be available. All official event vehicles and marshals will have the resources to help with punctures, though riders are responsible for carrying their own repair kits and spare tubes as well as ensuring that their bike is mechanically sound before the event.

What should I wear?

Mid-late March can still be reasonably warm so we suggest wearing a moisture-wicking lycra jersey, though a simple cotton t-shirt can work too. Padded bike pants (knicks) make for a more comfortable ride, or else wear your favourite pair of shorts/cargo pants. Plenty of sunscreen and hydration is crucial. Check the weather forecast and ride updates in the days preceding the event to plan your attire and ensure you are well prepared.

How long will the ride take?

Depending on your riding speed/ability/time spent at refreshment stops allow:
10km : 30 – 45 minutes
20km: 60 minutes – 1.5 hours
65km: 2.5 hours – 4.5 hours
90km: 3.5 hours – 6 hours
120km: 4.5 hours – 7.5 hours
Note that ride times are not recorded.

How do I get back from the finish?

If you haven’t got someone to pick you up at the finish there is the option of transport back from Victor Harbor on our chartered coaches. Book your seat at the time you register to ride. If you have already registered and wish to add the transfer simply call the office on 8168 9999. Can I ride with my baby trailer or child seat

Absolutely, all children under the age of 6 can participate for free.

What is the minimum age?

Children are welcome to participate, however if aged under the age of 16 they must be accompanied by a registered, responsible adult at all times.

Can I transfer my ride to someone else if I can't ride?

Sure, we simply need the details of the new rider via a hard copy form and signed letter of permission.

What happens if the ride is cancelled due to extreme weather?

If the event is cancelled due to extreme weather conditions, information will be provided at the event and prior to the event on www.bikesa.asn.au or by phoning (08) 8168 9999.
If Bicycle SA cancels the event, entry fees are transferable to other Bicycle SA events or refundable.

Do I have to be a Bicycle SA member to participate?

Not at all, however being a Bicycle SA member not only gives you a discount on the ride entry fee but also on most other Bicycle SA ride events. Plus with membership you automatically receive third party and personal accident insurance cover, anywhere is Australia. Find out more here. Seriously, this one's a classic. You don't want to miss out. I do it every year with my work and it's a real challenge but the pain is worth it.
