Moonta Easter Cycle, April 19-22, 2019

Our Easter Cycle is the ideal long weekend of relaxed fun for family and friends. From long day-trips chasing the horizon for committed roadies, to little loops for tackers on trainer-wheels - as well as our famous Night Ride - our Easter Cycle has plenty in the program to keep the entire mob occupied all long-weekend.

There will be rides of varying distances sufficient to challenge roadies and the mountain bikers. Rides have also been planned for those looking for a more leisurely time out on their bikes, and, of course, the younger members of the group including the ever popular Easter Egg Hunt.

Round up the family, get your mates together or just bring yourself along - it's a great way to meet people and make new friends. You can ride as much or as little as you like - it's your weekend to enjoy!

Moonta, in the Copper Coast, on the Yorke Peninsula and 164km north west of Adelaide, is the location for our 2019 Easter Cycle, (19 to 22 April). The discovery of copper in 1860 led to the establishment of the Moonta Mining Co which soon became one of the richest copper mines in Australia. The massive influx of skilled Cornish miners made a huge impact and changed the way of life and culture of this region of South Australia. Today Moonta boasts the Kernewek Lowender, the world's largest Cornish festival, a biennial event celebrating everything that is Cornish.

Our campsite will be at the Moonta Football Club, with a mix of rides, from a few kilometres to 100km heading out each day to various locations throughout the Copper Coast. The Easter Egg hunt and Night Ride on Sunday are very popular with adults and children alike. There will be time to explore the region, steeped in history, quiet bike tracks, Moonta Bay, with its stunning beaches and sandy coves, Port Hughes, Kadina, and, of course, cafes and coffee shops, and time perhaps to watch the sun setting after another great day's riding (walking, reading a book or relaxing).

Registrations are now open. There is a special entry fee for groups and there is no charge for children up to 5 years of age. This is a great weekend (and free of cooking meals) for family and friends. Further information is available from the office on 08 8168 9999, or office@bikesa.asn.au.
