Intermediate Bike Maintenance #2 - Drive System and Bearings

Saturdays, 9am to 1pm

Bike SA is excited to deliver a new and updated format for our Intermediate Bike Maintenance course (previously comprehensive bike maintenance). We know you cannot learn without doing. With two extended sessions, spread over 2 x Saturdays, you will have more time to practice your maintenance skills, both in the course and between the two courses, before learning more information.

Designed to teach you the everyday skills you need to adjust your bikes gears and brakes, and replace the parts of your bike that experience regular wear and tear; this course is for those who know the basics, and are ready to extend themselves in a supported environment. We limit class sizes to 10 participants to maximise your learning and structure the course to include content relevant to both road and MTB enthusiasts, as well as everyday riders.

In this second component of Intermediate Bike Maintenance you will learn to:

  • Assess the wear in a bicycle's drive train system including: the chain, cassette and chain rings (drive train)
  • Replace the parts in a bicycle's drive train system including: the chain, cassette and chain rings
  • Safety check a bicycle's bearing systems including: the headset, bottom bracket and wheel hubs
  • Adjust the headset

NOTE: Removal and adjustment examples provided.
