Changes to our event schedule for 2017

We have made some changes to our event schedule for 2017 which reflect the dynamic nature of cycling events. These fall into three areas:

  • Our big Southern Expressway November ride this year will see the inaugural Fleurieu Fondo Festival which will replace Amy's Ride
  • The addition of our Track and Trail (MTB for Beginners) Series and
  • The addition of our new TTUp! Series (a new hill climb time trial)

  • Bike SA is proud of our partnership with the Amy Gillett Foundation over the past 10 years, firstly through our Sea to Vines event in the early years and more recently via Amy's Ride SA. The Foundation's A Metre Matters campaign has been an important community message to all South Australians. As SA's peak body for getting more people riding in South Australia, Bike SA's event activities provide vital funds to support our advocacy and road safety community programs.
Unfortunately, due to commercial constraints, Bike SA will not be continuing with Amy's Ride SA this year. In its place, our inaugural Fleurieu Fondo Festival will take place on November 5 to highlight all of the diversity cycling has to offer.
With a resurgence in female cycling participation through events like Cyclo-Cross and broader event formats such as Gravel road riding as well as food/wine blended cycling experiences, we look to the future for our mass participation events. Each of these additional riding disciplines will see new partnerships for Bike SA with numerous cycling clubs and local businesses.
Bike SA and the Amy Gillett Foundation remain committed to working towards the next evolution of our relationship to ensure that road safety is a key outcome for all SA riders.
