Introduction
Over 30,000 people will ride with Bicycle SA in 2009.
Our reputation for providing safe and innovative rides throughout South Australia (and occasionally interstate) is set to grow further in 2008. Experienced riders know they can rely on us to provide all the necessary support, from Powerade and Nippy's water, to mechanical back up and first aid support. So all you have to do is ride.
And it really is all about the ride. Sure, you're on your bike because you appreciate the health and environmental benefits of riding, and because you get to enjoy the experience with other people. If you commute on your bike you also know about the financial rewards. But the bottom line is you're here for the ride. And Bicycle SA works hard to deliver some of the most unique, exciting and spectacular journeys on offer.
As you'd expect, much of the action takes place in spring and autumn, but every month offers multiple options to get on your bike and join other riders. The Savings & Loans COAST TO COAST, where you can join the peloton from Adelaide to Victor Harbor. Our exciting new event is AMY'S RIDE. Supporting the Amy Gillett Foundation as you take over the Southern Expressway is a perfect start to one of the biggest rides of the year.
Plenty more riders take on the GRAND SLAM series during the cooler months, using the challenge to maintain fitness as well as explore the best roads through the Mount Lofty Ranges.
From small to big journeys, we also offer a couple of multi-day rides for those with the time and the adventurous spirit. The ANNUAL TOUR build on Bicycle SA's reputation for sociable, entertaining and exciting tours for small groups. This magazine also features a number of other unique options for the cycle tourist in SA and beyond. North, south, east and west, there are roads just waiting to be ridden, areas begging to be explored. From thousands of kilometres of meandering coastline roads to hundreds of hills to climb (and descend!), plus metropolitan bike paths and secret routes, South Australia offers plenty to discover.
