Route Maps

You can choose to start from Adelaide CBD and ride the 50km, 80km or 110km via the South Eastern Freeway to Mt Lofty, and back to Adelaide. Or, if you want to cut out the hill climbs, you can start at Summertown and ride the 30km or 60km back to Adelaide.

The average gradient along the SE Freeway from the old Toll Gates to Crafers is 5.7% incline. If you're a little unsure about how steep the Freeway is and whether you'll make it, click here to compare the gradient with other popular hill climbs around Adelaide and test yourself before the ride. You need to be able to maintain an average speed of 12km/h from the start of the Freeway to Crafers to complete this ride section within the allocated road closure time frame.

You can also view each route individually on the Google-based website bikemap.net by using the links below.

Start Adelaide CBD

Start Summertown

There's also an escape route from Crafers to Summertown that avoids the last short climb to Mt Lofty Summit if you really think you can't make it. Dig deep though as it's only another 2.5km to the top from Crafers and you'll have had the satisfaction of conquering Mt Lofty Summit.

Note: time limits apply to each road closure section - please check Road Closure Information for details so you can choose the route most suitable to your abilities.
