 | ABOUT SAMBA | |
SAMBA is committed to create, protect and promote mountain bike riding opportunities in South Australia The South Australian Mountain Biking Association (SAMBA) was established to support the sustainable development of mountain biking in South Australia. We are committed to getting more people riding mountain bikes and to increasing engagement in the organised mountain biking community, including increasing the number of people actively engaged in trail care and maintenance. Our Vision: South Australia is a world class Mountain Biking destination with an extensive network of sustainable trails supported by an actively engaged community. Our Mission: To create, protect and promote mountain bike riding opportunities in South Australia by building a united, informed and engaged community.
SAMBA was established to be the peak body for recreational mountain biking in South Australia and to create, preserve, protect, and promote mountain bike access and diverse riding opportunities in South Australia. SAMBA is not a race organisation. While we are supportive of the development of the sport, including through ensuring appropriate areas exist to ride and race, we do not organise and run mountain bike races. We would like to see South Australia's racing clubs grow and flourish. SAMBA is committed to strong advocacy for access, trails and mountain bike facilities. Our vision is the development of a world class trail network for South Australia. This requires a coordinated effort to advocate for access, develop new trails and ensure sustainable maintenance of the trail network. SAMBA is committing the resources to facilitate this coordination role for the South Australian mountain biking community. SAMBA's desire is to work collaboratively and in partnership with the Australian cycling industry, SA's race clubs and the community to drive the future development of mountain biking. As evidence of SAMBA's commitment to working with the existing mountain bike community, we have a representative BikeSA, IMBA-AU, and Insideline MTB Club on the SAMBA Management Committee. This committee provides advice to the SAMBA Board, and provides a mechanism for information sharing and coordination across the mountain bike community.
