What sort of bike should I take?

The Annual Tour is a roady ride, but there are a couple of days when you can get off the bitumen and ride the rough stuff, if you're that way inclined. The ride is suitable for either a road bike, hybrid or mountain bike with slicks. Almost all of the route is on sealed road apart from the Reisling Trail which is surfaced with hard compacted dolomite and may still be ridden on a roady.

Can I hire a bike in Adelaide for the Tour?
If you don't want the hassle of transporting a bike to Adelaide you can hire one from BicycleSA . We have limited numbers of Avanti Blade 3 and Apollo road bikes and also some Avanti Atomic mountain bikes for hire. Slick tyres for sealed roads can be fitted if requested. Email office@bikesa.asn.au for rates and details.

Do I need to put my bike in a box for the coach transfer?
It is not necessary to pack your bike into a box for the coach transfer. We have plenty of cardboard/blankets to cushion the transported bikes. You may, however, have to turn the handlebars and / or remove the pedals, depending on the available space. It's not a problem if you decide to keep your bike boxed for the journey to Moonta but please be aware of extra time it may take to prepare your bike for riding. The first day however is quite relaxed so you will have plenty of time to get organised

How much luggage can I take?
The total Luggage allowance is 28kg but individual luggage items must not exceed 14kg (it's easier and safer to pack two lighter bags than one big bag).

Yes you are welcome to come straight to BikeSA & leave your bike/bags with us. Take a small overnight bag for your night in Adelaide to save the hassle of getting back to us on Saturday morning - office hours are 9-5pm.
