The 2011 Gear up Girl Challenge SA offers a choice of three routes
making it suitable for women of all ages and abilities to ride.

| | River Ride 10am start - Map & Info sheet The River Ride is a circular route around the River Torrens following the Linear Park. This ride is suitable for all levels of ability.
Great for those who haven't done much riding and would like to take advantage of a mainly traffic free environment
- you will have to watch out for pedestrians on the shared-use Linear Path however. A great option for those with young children. Click Here to view the 15km route on the interactive Google-based Bikemap.net website |
Beach Ride 35km 9.30am start - Map & Info sheet The Beach Ride is almost half escorted on roads; as well as
un-escorted sections along quiet roads, some with bike lanes, plus
shared-use paths.
The Beach Ride follows Anzac Highway all the way to Glenelg - SA Police will escort riders through the CBD and onto Anzac Hwy. For the rest of the ride to Glenelg, Bike SA will continue the escort providing extra safety in conjunction with dedicated ride marshals. At Glenelg, the rider escort stops and riders head north along the foreshore, using a mix of quiet roads and shared use paths past Adelaide Shores to West Beach, crossing the River Torrens at Henly Beach South.
Riders then head east along the Linear Path, which follows the meandering path of the River Torrens, all the way back to the Elder Park finish.
The Beach Ride distance is suitable for all riders with moderate fitness levels.

And if you don't pack a picnic, there will be outlets offering food, snacks, coffees and cold drinks.
Refreshment Stations

There will bike maintenance facilities as well.
Refreshment Stations are the ideal places to step off your bike for a moment, have a rest, catch up with your riding buddies, enjoy the scenery and importantly, re-apply your sunscreen and make sure that you keep your hydration levels up.Car parking Car parking may also be difficult in the streets close to Elder Park. If you do need to drive in with your bikes we advise that you consider parking in the CBD or around the parklands east of Elder Park and ride to the start from there.
