 | Join us for Amy's Ride SA! | | Join Bicycle SA and the Amy Gillett Foundation for the fifth edition of Amy's Ride SA - mark 4 November 2012 in your diary! This year, we continue with the successful recipe that attracted over 3,000 riders in 2011 - same start and finish locations, same ride options, and the much enjoyed leg of the Southern Expressway, closed just for the riders! Take it. Ride it. It's all yours. No cars. No trucks. Just you and your fellow riding buddies taking over the road!
We start from Flinders University (Bedford Park) at 08.30am, but get there a bit early to catch up with riding mates, check-in and attend the rider's briefing. The 25KM will start at 09.00am from O'Halloran Hill (cnr Majors Rd and Morphett Rd). Details and maps of the starting venues will become available closer to the event. Riders can choose between 100KM/65KM/30KM or 25KM rides. Please note route maps are subject to change.
100KM - Route Map If you don't get out of bed for anything less than 100km and you quite like the idea of riding the Southern Expressway as well as having a crack at the famous Willunga Hill, then you're in luck, because this ride's for you. This ride explores the Fleurieu from coast to hills!
65KM - Route MapIf riding the Southern Expressway is thrilling enough and you're not really a hill-climbing person, then the 65km option is the go. Factor in some picturesque coastal roads - plus a well-earned glass of the local drop and some fine food at the finish - and you have yourself the perfect ride. 30KM - Route MapFamilies, kids, and riders young and old can simply join the masses along the Southern Expressway for the 30km option - including O'Halloran Hill at the beginning of the expressway. Before you know it finish at McLaren Vale, triumphant in the sun. 25KM - Route Map
The Southern Expressway starts with a challenging hill climb. If you would prefer not to ride it, you may instead start at the top of the hill! You still ride along the Southern Expressway, but from its intersection with Majors Road, O'Halloran Hill. This cuts out 5km from the total distance, and makes for an easy start.
