Record numbers at the 2012 Kona Dirty Weekend

A record 300 riders participated in the 2012 Kona Dirty Weekend at Cudlee Creek Forest on the weekend of 5 and 6 May. The weather was on the chilly side but did little to stop the friendly and vibrant atmosphere on and off the track. Riders also raved about the SAMBA designed track, saying "the track is superb"and "lots of fun".

Kona Rider Andrew Bell writes in his review of the 2012 Kona Dirty Weekend that "the trails make this event a must do for every mountain biker in Oz. I would describe them a mix of Majura Pines on steroids and some of Mt Stromlo's best bits put into a fun flowing 12km of smiles." You can read his full review here

Thanks to our wonderful sponsors and supporters Kona, NiteFlux, Euro Optics, Orbea, SRAM, Ground Effect, Ventou, Roof Rack City, Slime, Body Torque, Over the Edge. A big thanks too to all the individuals and organisations that made the Kona Dirty Weekend possible, including Forestry SA, SAMBA, IMBA Australia, Full Gas Promotions and Trailmix,  Cycleworx, Aquaboss, Coates Hires, St John first aid, Nippy?s, Cafe2U, All Fired Up, masseurs Hazeline and Vincent, plus DJs Rohan, Tony and Josh, the Human Projectiles (old and new), and last but by no means least all the Bike SA volunteers who gave so much of their time, skills and effort

You can get down and dirty before the event by joining the good gurus from SAMBA at the Kona Dirty Weekend track building day on Sunday 29 April. The purpose of the session will be to finalise the course for the 24hr race, and should include some final grooming of a brand new section of trail, thanks to Forestry SA and IMBA-Au. All are welcome to come along and learn the techniques that go into making a great riding trail - no experience necessary! Following a morning of trailwork, SAMBA will provide a barbeque to replenish your strength, prior to a guided ride around the Kona Dirty Weekend course.

Meet at the Croft Rd carpark near the entrance to the pine forest at 8.50am for a 9am start. Bring drinking water, and make sure to wear sturdy boots, sunscreen, a hat, and work gloves. All tools will be provided. If intending to stay for the barbecue, please contact office@bikesa.asn.au to allow for catering.

Win custom jerseys for your Kona Dirty Weekend Team

Your team of four can win custom jerseys made by Body Torque in time for the Kona Dirty Weekend, 5-6 May.

There are two team jersey prize packages up for grabs, each worth $499.00, including final design, manufacture and postage. To win one of these two package you have to act by Monday 2 April. But be quick, you have three weeks to submit your design, so you get your jerseys in time for the Kona Dirty Weekend. It goes without saying your team also has to register for the Kona Dirty Weekend to be eligible!
