 | Frequently Asked Questions | |
When do registrations close?
Online and hardcopy Registrations close at Midday on Saturday 5 November
Registrations received after this time will not be processed. You can however
register in person at the event start on Sunday morning.
When do I get my Rider ID and jersey (if purchased)?
All riders are requested to collect their Rider ID during specific
pre-registration times here at 111 Franklin St. This will save you time at the
start. You can collect your Rider ID between 9.00am and 5.00pm on Thurs 3 &
Friday 4 November and between 8.00am and 12.00pm on Saturday 5 November. If for
some reason you cannot make it in to collect your Rider ID before the ride you
will be able collect it at the start location. Please note: they are not mailed
out. You can collect on behalf of someone else providing you have a copy of
their payment receipt.
What sort of bike do I need to have?
On our recreational rides there will be a great range of bikes out on the road
from older mountain bikes/hybrids to the latest road bikes. Smoother tyres will
make your ride easier/quicker but don't feel you need the latest bike to be
able to enjoy the fun of participating! It's definitely a good idea to get your
bike checked at your local bike shop beforehand.
What should I wear?
November is likely to be warm so we suggest wearing a moisture wicking lycra
shirt or a simple cotton t-shirt is excellent too. Padded bike pants are great
or else a comfy pair of shorts/cargo pants. Plenty of sunscreen & hydration
is very important! Check the forecast & ride updates in the days preceding
the event to plan your attire and ensure you are well prepared!
How long will the ride take?
Depending on your riding speed/ability/time spent at refreshment stops allow:
25 - 30km: 60 minutes - 1.5 hours 65km: 2.5 hours - 4.5 hours 100km: 3.5
hours - 6 hours
The ride times are not recorded.
How do I get back from the finish?
If you haven't got someone to pick you up at the finish there is the option of
transport back from Mclaren Vale on our chartered buses - book when you
register or else if you have already registered & wish to add the transfer
simply call the office on 8168 9999. Your bike is transported as well &
will be protected by blankets - no need to box it up. Bus depatures are at 1pm or 2.30pm & cost
is $38
Can I ride with my baby trailer or child seat?
Sure - all children under the age of 6 can participate for free.
What is the minimum age?
Children are welcome to participate - however if aged under the age of 16 they
must be accompanied by a nominated adult at all times.
Can I transfer my ride to someone else if I can't ride?

& letter of permission.
Do I have to be a Bicycle SA member to participate?

the ride entry fee but also on most other Bicycle SA ride events, plus with
membership you automatically receive accident insurance cover through Cycle
Cover Insurance.
