In 2011, over 3,000 riders will participate in the 2011 Amy's Ride SA. Will you?
Amy's Ride SA is a recreational mass participation road
ride from Adelaide to McLaren Vale, one of South Australia's leading wine regions. The event raises much needed funds for
road safety in South Australia, and gives people the opportunity to
ride a bike along the Southern Expressway (exclusively closed for the
event), wear the exclusive Amy's Ride SA jersey and take on their
personal challenge - a great day out!
Introduction - what's Amy's Ride SA all about?
Amy's Ride SA supports the Amy Gillett Foundation's mission for safe bicycling in Australia, and vision of zero bike-related fatalities. The Foundation seeks to highlight the importance of being responsible every time we head out on the road (or off-road) whether we're on two wheels or in four. It's not rocket science, it something we can all do starting today - because everyone deserves to arrive home safely irrespective of their chosen mode of transport. Events such as Amy's Ride SA helps raise much needed funds and honour the memory of Amy Gillett who was killed by a motorist while riding in Germany. Support the Amy Gillett Foundation
In 2010, over 3000 riders turned out to support the Amy Gillett Foundation and Bike SA at Amy's Ride SA. It was a spectacular sight to see a sea of cyclists make their way onto the Southern Expressway which was exclusively closed for the event.
